I live in Wilmington, NC (near the beach) and I planted Bermuda Sahara grass about two weeks ago. Some of it is coming up well, but there are several spots that are coming in purple. HELP!! I’m not sure what to do about it. Would fertilizer help – is there a specific kind to get?
Thank you!

Yes you need to fertilize, 10-20-10 ,16-20-0some kind of fertilizer with a high middle #your soil has a nutrient deficiency..

“Near the Beach”
…That brings on many implications.
You likely have a problem with ‘nutrient tie-up’ in your soil. Fertilizing will likely overcome the problem for a while, but the longterm solution is to stimulate the microbial population so the can naturally make the available nutrients biologically available for your plants.
..The cheapest solution I have seen to this is humus. It can be applied at a cost of about five dollars for the average yard, and a couple of applications will likely change the character of your soil in ways that will benefit your lawn for years to come.
