Growing grass after stump removal

We recently had two big bull pines cut down in our front yard. We had an inexperienced guy remove the stumps for us, and to make a long story short, we had an excessive amount of wood chips to remove. We removed as much as we could, then tilled and raked the dirt over. My question is, how do we get grass to grow again in that area? Do we need to apply it with something in case there is still a good amount of wood chips there? I heard lime would be good to spread over it. What steps do we take to ensure that the soil is in good condition to plant a few grass seeds?
