Best Turfgrass for an Oklahoma yard?
LuckyT – posted 06 July 2010 13:20
I live in the Oklahoma City area on 1.5 acers, I have (3) big dogs (the smallest one is 65 lbs), the soil goes from clay to sandy type. Right now I have Fescue in the shaded areas and Bermuda in the areas that get full sun. The Bermuda does very well in the summer months but Im always fighting weeds & crab grass. The Fescue does well in the other three seasons (I over seed in the Fall) but in some areas it gets thin in the summer months (not to bad). I like the Fescue for two main reasons (1) I dont have any issues with weeds and it looks great. Water is not an issue, Im on a well and have a 80 head sprinkler system.
Is there a better grass for my area?
Can I get the Fescue to choke out the Bermuda by over seeding that area in the Fall?
Which is the best Fescue blend for my area?
Thank you for your input.
