Annual bluegrass in fescue lawn

I have a fescue lawn which has recently been getting many pale green areas. The blotches of pale yellow continue to enlarge and it’s taken over about 1/10 of the lawn. I was told it might be annual bluegrass. The pale green areas are healthy looking but look terrible since it isn’t the dark green of the healthy tall fescue. Does this seem correct? If so, is there a solution to turn it the same color as the fescue? thanks much

I am skeptical of the ID because it almost sounds like you’re describing a mat-forming species, also, annual bluegrass should be fading out in spring, and on its way out. If it is annual bluegrass, Prograss (ethofumesate, by Bayer) can be applied to the tall fescue in the fall.

Thanks Phil….the latest I am getting is it might be Ferry Ring, however there isn’t any browning around the edges. I now agree with you that it isn’t annual blue. I also hear there is another Ferry “something” that is an issue with the soil but tends to cure itself. I am at a loss with it.

I have the same issue. Were you able to get this resolved? I have lighter colored green blotches all over the lawn. This is the second year that they have shown up. Any help would be appreciated.
