I have what I believe is annual bluegrass in a tall fescue lawn. The grass germinates in mid winter (Charlotte NC area) and grows vigorously in tufts. It has now gone to seed (April) and is yellowing. It will die in summer heat only to reemerge in winter. Is ethofumesate effective? Are multiple applications needed? Can I apply or should this be done by a professional? Can I do this in conjunction with fall aeration and seeding? Any help is appreciated.

TomAB,The guys I’ve talked to about this in the last few years find mixed results. I have never been real good at getting the kind of control I’d like to see.(I think its the whole 3 to 4 monthly application stuff that gets me. I’m a one-app-and-done kinda guy). It is labeled for fescue so that is not an issue. Can you get it though? Do you have a license? There is a new herbicide that is supposed to be the cats meow. It’s called Velocity made by Valiant Chemical. I’ll be using it alot in September. The research I’ve seen is tremendous. The guys say that the label should have a warning: This stuff really works. In the north you would be amazed at how much Poa Golf Courses have.

Good Luck….

Kerb is your product. Cohiba is 100% correct, but velocity will kill the tall fescue and growing bermuda per the Velocity label.
