St Augustine Grass seed growing in my yard

I took my wife to the side of my house to show her the work an electrician did and as I was talking to her I looked down and saw a thick blade of grass. I went on talking for a sec and realized what I saw and took another look. It was an St Aug Grass blade look but it had tight fitting seeds going all the way up. If I knew how to post a picture here I would. What got me was I thought St Aug grass didn’t seed in these parts? I live in Jacksonville Florida about 30-40 miles from the beach. I take it from what I read that this is uncommon.

I went back out and noticed that I had many shoots with seed on them. Just along the house where I have not mowed. Will these seeds create new st aug grass?

Unfortunately no. The seed doesn’t produce new grass.

Svcrawft72,I had that same question for the manager at the national big box home improvement lawn and garden center and he told me that there was a company that advertised that they had a product that was St. A seeds in a cardboard container. The FDA or FTC or someone did an analysis and found that some 5% of the seeds were indeed St. A. the rest were filler and the bottom line was that the product wouldn’t do what the producer said it would. The manufacturer had to pull it from the shelves.
