Ted, Cohiba ever encountered this?

Bought a new house. Yard is full of weeds but I am slowly gaining control. The grass is Floratam. My problem is one area the size of a small bedroom. All the grass is about dead and nothing but weeds grow there – and they do not grow well.
The previous owner may have drained his pool to this area. The pool had frequent algae problems and they used lots of chemicals. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Resod? Dig up old sod? This has me stumped. Heat/sunlight will destory the chlorine so that is not the problem.
Thanks for any ideas

Alex,
You have to soil test it to see whats going on. Could be where the pool contractor washed his tools and lime is way, way out of wack. Could be where the previous owner threw some leftover whatever just to get rid of it, ect. I had a spot that I couldn’t get growing well and mentioned to my neigbor about it. He said that’s where the previous owner threw all the Turpentine from his brushes after painting.
Who knows…………………..
Good luck…………..
