St. Augustine

I have a St. Augustine lawn which showed discoloration in a large area in the middle in full sunlight. It then turned brown’dead’ in strips directly under where the wheels of our riding lawnmower passes and dead has spread irregularly in some areas. I checked for insects using dishsoap & water and found earwigs and some small(3/32″) round brown insects. I would appreciate your input. Thanks.

Call a local reputable turf management company, and have them come spray for insects and fungus.

Dont make the mistake of over watering.

You’ve got a fungus, my friend. Make sure that you use a bleach solution to spray down the tires (and underframe) of you lawnmower becasue the spores will still be spread by the lawnmower. Go to any landscape supply house and ask them for fungicide to apply to your lawn, or better yet, hire a professional to treat the lawn for the fungus. Someone else suggested spraying for insects but I suggest that you don’t unless it is really needed. A pro can tell you that.Good luck. jakel
