St Augestine grass

On my grass some of it is dark green and part is light green on the same stem of grass. What would cause this? Its not all over the yard just on spots.

LD, this could be a micronutrient deficiency. Some micronutrients such as iron are poorly mobile in the plant, so some parts, particularly new leaves, don’t get enough iron when the grass is growing rapidly. You can try to corroborate this by examining the leaf blades closely. With St. Augustinegrass the blades are wide enough that some will show a delicate striation or striping, with alternating greeen and yellowish. Iron sulfate can be test treated pm the off-color areas, and if that helps it’s pretty good confirmation. There are other things that will cause color variations. Phil
