PLEASE HELP MY ST. AUGUSTINE SOD

I live in St. Augustine Florida where I have a newly sodded (6 months) St. Augustine lawn. Some of the sod is doing great, but some areas have never taken off. There are large areas of totally dead sod. I have tried fertilizing and pretty much everything else I know. Should I dig up the sod that is dead and lay new sod? ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated

i highly recommend you find a professional fertilizer to maintain your lawn ragularly like about every 2 months..i have been having mine done professionally for over 3 years since it was new, i my yard looks great except for 1 area that crabgrass has started to grow. but i can tell the ones in my neighborhood who claim they can “do it themselves” and you sure can tell the difference. you have a brand new lawn so you don’t want to take chances, unless you can afford to keep resodding. some people say it costs too much for a professional, it costs me, i think $45 every 2 mths, i think that is cheaper than buying a fertilizer for this weed or that weed or for this time of year or that time of year, and he also sprays for bugs, which i here my neighbors complain about ants, or roaches, or mole crickets, well i don’t have any of that so i guess i get excluded in their conversation, which in this case is not a bad thing. also, you should have a sprinkler system, if you can afford st’augustine, you should be able to pay a little extra to get a sprinkler system, if not you have to make sure you water it 2 or 3 times a week, but in the rainy season i just turn my timer off. anyhow, good luck, and no, i am not a professional lawn guy, but i did stay at i holiday inn express last night, hahahaha…

you’ll have to resod the dead sections. if you don’t have growth by now, you won’t.
