New St Augustine Question

Just put in a new St Augustine lawn a little over a week ago. I tilled the ground about 6 inches, watered it before putting the sod down and layed out the sod in a bricklike pattern. Since then, I’ve been watering it once a day to get between 1/4 and 1/2 inch per day. First couple of days I watered a little more. It seems that for the most part it is growing. However, I noticed that if you look down at the grass well, you see some brown blades mixed in with the growing green blades. The stolon look green from what I can tell and if I tug lightly on the sod, it won’t come up. Does this sound about like where the sod should be or do I need to add more water or something in order to try to green up the brown blades?
Thanks in advance.

sounds like you are doing right and I agree on the possible dormant comment. By now you should have decreased watering frequency considerably. Hope it is growing well.
