new sod on slimey clay
LLB – posted 11 October 2004 00:31
I installed new sod a few months ago. The soil base was good loam, but the new sod arrived with the base soil being serious clay. Now with the fall rains starting, it is really slimey and slippery and far from the healthy loam it was put on. Suggestions?

Aerify in two directions- rake up and remove clay plugs, topdress 3/8 inch thick with soil similar to the loam the sod is laid on. Rake the topdressing out even as to make sure it gets swept into the aerification holes.
