I laid out some Palmetto St Augustine grass in my front yard four days ago. I notice that some of the blades are turning yellow. I plugged my yard some years back and it did well for 4 to 5 years, however this yellowing of some of the blades occured before and I am not sure if that was the source of it dying. Could you let me know what may be causing this yellowing of some of the blades while it is still early in the game?

St. Augustine yellows easily from chlorosis (lack of iron) and/or nitrogen. If you are in sandy soil, it is easy to leech these things out as you water. I understand that you must get those roots established w/o drying out – – but be careful not to overwater (once a day for 10 days, maybe twice a week for one or two weeks, after that, wait for wilting before watering – and if you are getting rain, cut WAY back). 10-14 days after laying (when you can feel the roots taking hold in the ground) use a starter fertilizer w/ iron.
