Gray Fuzz on new grass

We have a new lawn that has been coming in quite well. Today we noticed patches of gray fuzz in different areas. We called the Scotts hotline and they don’t know what it is. Anyone have any idea? We are in Eastern PA and have had lots of rain and high temps over the last several weeks. It does not look like moss.

I heard Walter Reeves talkking about this on his show today and he made it sound like it was no big deal. He recommended just washing it off… maybe you can find some more info here…

Try 10-20lbs of corn meal per 1000sqft and see if it works. I think it might be fungus which usually happens to new yard after excessive watering and corn meal supposedly help control fungus problem. You can get it cheap at local feed store. They’re for animal feeding but can be used as fertilzer and fungus control on the yards.
