hey guys and girls!!this is my first post here althought ive been reading posts for months now!anyways, i live in virginia beach virginia about 5 miles off the water and we just had empire zoysia laid down yesterday…just a few questions for you!!it looks to be pretty brown to me…not fully brown but definetly not all green either..the sod supposedly came from north carolina about 4 hours away from here…is it normal for it look brown at first??also im watering it 30mins a day at 5:00AM and again at 2:30pm for the first 2 weeks..is that ok??im just worried that i got a burned out yard!!
any help or suggestions would be great!!

I also have empire zoysia, and the place i get it from cuts it fresh, the day or night right before delivery. Unless your sod was on the pallet more than a few days, it shouldnt be mostly brown. I would water heavily for a week or 2 and see how it does, if it doesnt get any better, call the place you ordered it from. Hey this is one the most expensive grass’s in sod you can get, they should of gave you better “cuts” of it. Come to think of it, I had some on a pallet for like 3 days, it wasnt real hot but none of the pieces were brown, still preety green. Sounds like you got some old stuff. Hope it works out for ya.

One other thing, I put some Lesco 18-24-12 starter fert. and roots took off like crazy 2 days later, doing alot better than the other pallets that I didnt use the fert on. Send me some pics of it to me and I will compare it with mine. mwhite125@gmail.com
