I bought a foreclosed home and the yard looks like crap. I want a big lawn with no barespots. The bermuda looks really yellow and thick.. How do I get it like straight blades of grass going up?
Should I dig up all the bermuda and re-seed with a different type of bermuda?
Can anyone help me? I have no idea what to do.. The area I want lawn is about 1200sqft I think.
I live in Phoenix,AZ

Jenny,I am not a lawn expert, by any stretch of the imagination, but if Bermuda does well in your area and soil type, I would till the entire yard and solid-sod it. Not too expensive if you do the work yourself. If you are patient, you could till it up, rake it really smooth, and broadcast seed it with Bermuda seed. Mix the seed with yellow corn meal so can see your coverage. You can buy a hand held fertilizer spreader for seeding at most garden supply stores.Water well daily so the seed will germinate.

water it, rake in some grass soil and apply fertilizer. My experience is it doesn’t take much to get Bermuda going.
