bermuda/fescue problem

Here is the history…I put in an irrigation system last summer and then seeded bermuda in early August. The bermuda came up great in spots. When November/December came along I put down some annual rye to get the lawn looking good. The rye worked great….too great!!! It does not look like my bermuda is coming back at all and I still have a good bit of the rye. The rye is dying off slowly as it gets hotter, but it looks like the bermuda is gone. The yard is starting to look kind of bare and I wanted to know what my options were for grass at this point. I’m kind of leaning toward just going back to the fescue since i think I can keep it green through the hot summer months with my irrigation system. Do you guys have any ideas

where do you live? i’m assuming with planting rye that late you’re pretty far south? fescue may not work in your market.- don’t recommend seeding bermuda at any time of the year, but especially that late in the year.

I live in Charlotte NC. I know I can wait until the fall to plant the fescue, but I was hoping there was something I could do now since it does not look like the bermuda is going to come back and the rye is dying off

no you’re better off waiting- everything else would be wasting more time and money- you can start using roundup in september to kill whatever you don’t want, then plant shortly thereafter.
