Certain areas of my tall fescue lawn are turning light green in color. It’s not a weed or any other type of grass overtaking it, but the fescue blades themselves. Overall the patches of light green still look healthy, but don’t match the rest of my darker green lawn.
Am I lacking in a certain nutrient? Is it a disease? My first guess was to throw some fertilizer on the yard, but I didn’t think it was time yet. I’ve never had it turn colors like this in the 5 years its been established.

The lighter grass blades is an indication that it isn’t getting some nutrient or other. It could also be an indication that the PH of the soil may be off. Most likely a deficiency of some sort or another. Lack of nitrogen, iron, or magnesium can cause it. Or an overabundance of phosphorous or potassium which interferes with the absorption of nitrogen. Best thing is to have the soil tested and go from there.
