Greetings, I have St Augustine very thick in most of my yard (1 acre minus house and shop) in east TX, loamy soil. Last fall I got some kind of yellow patches that seemed to spread. Now things are starting to warm up, I’m seeing some new growth in the parts of the yard that didn’t turn yellow. The grass in those areas appears to be dead and brown. I’ve dethatched the dead spots out, assuming it was dead and gone, cut it down a ways and run the sweaper over it to get the loose cuttings up. The grass looks alot thinner with out all the dead grass packed down. Any ideas on the dead patches? Fungus? Chinchbugs? Other? I’ve used Scotts Bonus S and intend to let it grow to about on 3, sweep it up then let it go to 4 and trying to get it leveled off. Should I try to let it grow up taller, say on 6, the max heigth on my deck? Any ideas ? Thanks, Easttex

it sounds like you have aquired a fungus but not sure without actually seeing it. try letting it grow taller as the roots like it cooler than you think. also try and find your nearest lesco dealer, those guys are knowledgable for the area. they can also recomend a funguside for you , or even a pesticide too. www.lesco.com
