I am in houston.I need to plant some new st aug but is it too late.When should i winterize.Thanks

It is okay to sod St Aug in Houston as long as you see green St Aug on your neighbor’s lawn. Once it goes dormant (soil temps below 50 degrees), then it is too late.
Keep in mind that St Aug sod is heavily fertilized and susceptible to fungus diseases. Don’t over water it – let the grass tell you when it needs water. As a fungus disease preventative you might apply corn meal at 10-20 pounds per 1,000 square feet the day you put down the sod.

it’s ok to sod now in houston- but why don’t you consider just seeding the lawn with rye grass, then sodding in the spring? your st. aug. will go dormant anyway during the winter- doing it this way will be a better solution
