Zoysia – Wife hates the yellow grass of winter

I live in NC and have Zoysiagrass. It’s wonderful in the summer, but the wife is complaining about being the last to green in the spring and the ugly yellow in the winter. From what I’ve read on the forum, getting rid of it is a chore. Is planting another grass type that stays green in the winter an option, or will the Zoysia kill it off ?

overseed in the winter with perennial rye- the zoysia will come back just fine- do it in september in your market- might want to dethatch first depending upon age of zoysia
