Will Bermuda grass grow?

My husband and I just build a house. The dirt around our house is red clay… the muddy mess is HORRIBLE so I bought bales of bermuda hay and spread them around the house. Will there be any germination or seeding from the hay decomposing on the ground? We want to eventually come back and till the lawn and cover in topsoil and sod the lawn… AFTER we recover from the financial impact of building a house of course…. Any advice would be appreciated!

don’t dare put topsoil down over the clay! clay holds more water than any other soil. not sure about the bermuda hay, sounds like something for cattle. if the bermuda does germinate, it wont be until may when you see it come up. in the fall overseed with rye to recieve the year around green!
I almost forgot Do Not over water. Floratan /Seville all strains of St. Augustine are suseptible to fungus from over…
I am from the north and it has taken me five yrs to learn and undertand seville lawns. No 1…
