What is this light green grass??

This patchy thin blade light green grass is taking over my yard. It does not seed, it does not turn brown and the root system is very shallow. I can actually pull it up like a matt. http://smithpicturewarehouse.shutterfly.com

All the websites I have dug through seem to point me to Poa Trivialis. Only courses of action are glcophosphate or Certainty. Any thoughts?????????????????

Ya, it looks like Poa Trivalis…..its extremely cold tolerant, but usually burns out in the summer. If you don’t want to wait that long, spray ‘Round up’ and re-seed with something more desirable in the spring.

Thanks Tommy! Anyway to treat the whole yard to eliminate Poa Trivalis?

I don’t know of any selective control. I would just kill everything off, re-seed, and then apply a weed preventer, (labeled for lawns) in late summer or early fall- (depending on where you live.) The weed preventer would control any cool season grasses which want to come back when weather cools in the fall.
