I just scalped my lawn and wanted to spray some weed/crabgrass killer since the crabgrass is taking off already, but my Bermuda grass is not green so I’m afraid of killing it if it’s still coming out of dormancy. Is it okay to spray or should I wait?

Crabgrass isan’t up yet, so you probably have another type of weedy grass. Crabgrass killer (MSMA) also controls many other types of grass, so you might want to try it. It may stunt the bermuda a little, but no major damage should occur. Spray twice, 2 weeks apart.

Thanks Tommy. It may not be crabgrass but it been pretty warm here in OK and this green leafy grass has been growing while my Bermuda is still dormant so the biggest concern was killing the Bermuda if I sprayed.

I had already bought some Bayer weed with crabgrass killer so I will give that a shot, then I may need to go to an ag type farm and garden store since they have a better selection of chemicals.

On a side note I am recovering nicely from the billion bags of grass I had to bag while scalping the lawn. LOL
