What would be a reason not to select Jamur sod for your lawn? Why do they still sell varieties such as Meyer zoysia?

Jamur is a deeper green vs. lime green Meyer.

Jamur is less expensive than Meyer.

Jamur spreads faster, and recovers faster from damage.

I think it all depends on where you live. I’m not positive, but I believe I read somewhere that meyer does better in northern/central climates, and jamur in central/southern.Some people like lime green, but I agree, deeper is usually prettier. From where I live, (pensaola florida), Jamur is MORE expensive!! In fact, I cannot even find it nearby at all, and would also have to pay shipping. If I were you, I’d go find some agricultural study type place where they grow various small plots of all sod varieties, and you’d be amazed at how you can see the differences between them. In florida, we have a place called West Florida Research and Education Center … http://wfrec.ifas.ufl.edu/main/Programs/turf_science/research.htmwhere you can see 100’s of different grasses right up next to eachother. I walked on the jamur and stuck my fingers down into it…talk about thatch!! and it’s only the month of may…I can only imagine the thatch later on in the summer. But yes, it sure was a VERY pretty green, and very lush and thick looking. But you probably should enjoy de-thatching a couple times a year, is my guess.

I’m having to go with El Toro, because that’s all I can get right now, and I’ve been told it does well here. I could get empire and emerald, but I’ve decided on el toro, just because I think it’s all around better, in terms of thatch (less of it), and nematode resistance, and yet still is thick and lush.Good luck!!!!
