Lowes, sells a product made by bayer that is weed killer for grass. It wont hurt your lawn, but kills the weeds. On the back of the bottle it clearly states, DO NOT use on St.Augustine grass. So I bought it for that reason. It is a slow process, but it works. If that stuff is designed to kill weeds in grass, and it kills St. Augustine, then that means that St. Augustine is not a grass, it is an out of controll WEED!!!

A weed is any plant that you consider undesirable. One person love’s St Augustine, and the next door neighbor hates it because its gets into his hybrid bermuda. There are all kinds of weed killers out there for every possible situation….some grasses are tolerant, and some are not! Bent grass putting greens are the best turf areas on the planet, but are intolerant to almost all weed killers! Nobody would say that bentgrass is weedy, just because it is killed by weed killers.
