st augustine and broad leaf weeds

in central florida with st augustine unknown type that has bermuda dispersed through it….and now has broad leaf weeds ….

tried altrazine in june and killed a 10 x 10 section was it too hot??

how do i know if i have the flortram variety which seems to be a concern when using some herbicides like ORTHO weed control….

what can i do about the weeds and when should i do it

my mowere wheels are as high as possible the last 3 seasons but the bermuda persists,,,any tips maybe buy larger wheels?

any help is appreciated

I use vinegar mixed with a little orange oil as a foliar spray to kill weeds. It also kills the St Augustine, so you should spray it using something to mask off the St Aug.

To a 16 ounce hand sprayer put two tablespoons of dish soap and a tablespoon of orange oil. Then fill it up with vinegar (5% household full strength). Spray during the hottest part of the day for maximum effect. Many weeds will disintegrate to crispy crumbs in about an hour. St Aug takes a day or two to die. Bermuda seems to be unaffected in the long run.

Don’t spray to the point of it dripping off. Just mist it on the surface of the weed leaves. And don’t spray while the wind is blowing.
