Soft soil … Animal or BUG?

My SC Sis’ lawn is FESCUE and Winter Rye, she has very soft soil, no visible signs of moles, but there are little tiny holes every where in her yard. About the size of a nickle. She says she can’t see bugs, worms or any animals but there is something there making her soil soft. What do you think and What do you suggest? Thanks Meelox

Meelox, the mole cricket makes a hole in the soil about as big as your little finger, except you would also notice their little covered tunnels running along the surface, same as moles, but the mole cricket is an insect less than 2 inches long as an adult. Whatever it is, a soap flush should bring it up. I use lemon fresh Joy, but I think anything is going to work, just a couple tablespoons in a bucket of water, pour that over a couple square feet, then come back with the hose and flood the area until the guys come up for air.
