sod still ‘soft’. Roll it?

We had new sod put in our yard about 2 weeks ago. Been watering twice daily. It seems to be rooting just fine and needs a mowing now.
However, when I walk on the sod, I’m still getting some ‘soft’ spots and I could easily start dimpling the entire lawn if I start running across it.
Is this normal just being new sod and being watered rather constantly and will go away once it starts drying? Or is this a case where I should roll the yard first before trampling across it with the mower? If I do roll it, what’s a weight I should aim for so as to not damage the grass?
