Who late in the season can you lay sod?

Scott, this depends on your location and the type of sod. Are you in the northern latitude? How far north or south? Is the type of sod a cool-season grass or a warm-season grass?

I am having a new house built. When building started building the house they said they would not sod until next year. The house is getting finished earlier than expected, we move in in a week. They said they are going to sod this week. I heard it was to late. What is your opinion of this. The sod is bluegrass and we live in St. Louis.
