Replacing Bermuda with a wider blade grass?

Bought a house that has bermuda (not sure what kind) – Can the Bermuda be replaced with a wider blade grass like st. aug? If so, where can I find information on how to do it?
I live in northwest Louisiana – house faces the east. Have a big back yard with limited shade.

I live in NE Tex..you can plug or sod in St. Augustine very easily…It will chock out the Bermuda over time.
