Prior to early last week my lawn was looking great. Now in about 3/4 of my lawn, the tips of the blades are turning redish brown as you can see by the pics. Can anyone tell me what is going on? I am from from Austin TX.

Kind of hard to tell in the pics. There are a few possibilities. One would be some sort of chemical burn (I have seen herbicides as well as insecticides do that). The other could be a Rust fungus. As I said, hard to tell without seeing the grass.
One other possibility could be a shortage of Phosphorus in the soil. It is usually there, but when the plants are coming out of dormancy, and as the soils warm up, the grass doesn’t take it up and the red (usually purple) tips will show up.
Good luck.
