Hi Cohiba,You asked me if I was talking about armadillos or billbugs and when I told you that I was talking about billbugs, I had no more response and you can be shure that I’m waiting for them. Because I really need some help.

Isabel,

I’m sorry. I usually don’t get involved with warm season turf. A lot of more knowledgable people deal with that stuff. I am a GC Superintendent in southern NJ. But as I can see no one else chiming in ….I do however have billbug from time to time on my course. I have used Dursban and Delta Gard. We now spray preventatively on about 10 acres and curatively on another 30 acres. Follow this link to see more.

I like the idea of using simple monitoring methods like the pitfall trap. Timing with the spray or granular application is critical. Especially if you are treating curatively.

Most important in all turf management is making sure the turf is maintained correctly. Reduce stress on the turf and the turf will be able to fight off disease and insect infestations. Mow at the correct height for the turf. Avoid over watering and under watering. Water deep and infrequently. About 1″ per week of growing season. Fertilize at the correct time of year for your species.

There are more things to do but this is just a run down…….

Hope this helps……

Try a product with imidacloprid. Most likely you will need to treat then now, in the fall, and next spring. Good luck.
