overseeding bermuda

Hello from Atlanta. I’m considering overseeding my one year new bermuda sod. The original installation was absolutely beautiful – but when the city encountered and fixed a major plumbing catastrophe, the second installation left a lot to be desired. I’m certain they’re even different speci.
Would it help to overseed the entire lawn to fill in bare spots and “even out” or “blend” the two varieties, and if so, what variety is recommended for partial (2 hrs a day) shade.
Thanks for the assistance and advice! And thanks for maintaining the great site.

Brent, Try doing a little research on seed varieties at www.ntep.org. This site is the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program. They test and deliver field data and ratings on thousands of seed varieties. It is intresting to see where varieties rank with one another for different locations throught the US. It is also fun to see the seeds that are marketed as “Premium” where they fall on the list. Good Luck with your quest.
