new house with zoysia lawn

We just moved in and need some help.
Found out we have new Empire Zoysia. We are in SC and it is warm and beautiful. The lawn looks fantastic and we don’t want to mess it up. Sod was laid last year, so it is brand new. Greened right up from winter.
Cut it for the first time on high setting with the rotary mower. Bagged clippings. Within days, the seedheads were up over the grass. They are unsightly brown and really take away from the lush green lawn.
What’d we do wrong? Is there a good beginner primer on caring for the lawn? Don’t think there was any fertilizer or any pre-emergent weed killer done this winter as house was empty. Not many weeds, I’ve been pulling them by hand.
THANKS for any help you may be able to provide us.

The seeds don’t last very long. I remember posting the same thing when I first got my zoysia except my seeds were purplish

Yeah, don’t sweat it! Those seeds are part of the growing process, they come out you mow and they are gone. If anything seeing those seed pods is a good thing because your grass is healthy enough to produce them. Although they do not germinate.
