I have recently put in new sod. I am concerced with being able to see light yellow grid lines in the grass in most areas. Is this normal at first? Does this mean not enough water? Also I have a few mushrooms growing. The sod is about 3 weeks old. temps are 40’s at night and about 60 during the day. I was warmer a few weeks ago when i Put the grass in. also should I use some fertilizer? I live in central valley california

No, the edges are dying which is causing the yellow lines. The sod shrinks as it dries and causes the sod to pull apart. Fill the edges with top soil or a good humus and seed. Try Eden which is a fescue bluegrass mix. It germinates quicker than just bluegrass, but provides the sprawling root growth of bluegrass. Eden can be found at bestgrassseed.com with other tips to quick germination. good luck
