Need weed identified in Floratam

Hello, need help identifying some bad weeds I have in my lawn. I have several patches of this stuff and it’s driving me crazy. My lawn doesn’t look like floratam anymore, it’s filled with really thin grass like looking strands and patches of this spongy type weed/grass. Please help if you can, thanks in advance. I have attached several pictures. Thanks again,
Mike

Can’t tell from those photos. Get in real close and isolate your problems.

Let the grass grow some then take more photos. Seed heads (or lack thereof) help with the identification.

MikeL, This looks like the dreaded CRABGRASS with sod web worms eating the runners and leaves. I have the same thing in my Floratam.

Hi,looks like carpet grass. Try wetting area and sprinkling with baking soda. Salt water is suppose to work too! Good luck!

The thick bladed matt grass is “Alexander Grass” No selective herbicide control (unless you have access to Asulox/Asulome) Baking soda kills vegatative, but not roots. Thin-balded grass is Sedge, probably have both purple and Globe varities, use Manage herbicide. One common bond they all share is a tolerence for dry soil conditions. you re not reveiving 1″ of water from irrigation when is used. Once weeds controlled either by herbicide/mechanical methods, ensure proper irrigation coverage to discourage return of invasive grasses. Good Luck.
