We have St. Augustine that for the most part is lovely. This past year in two places in the lawn the grass has died in a large circle — in one spot it actually looks like the lawn sunk in a litte where it died. Any ideas? I live in Burnet, TX.

You have a fungus. Visit your feed store and get ordinary corn meal in 50-pound bags. Apply at 20 pounds per 1,000 square feet. Water it and give it 3 weeks and the lawn will be green in the circles again. You can reapply at 10 pounds per 1,000 in early June to keep the fungus down. Corn meal is also a fertilizer so you won’t have to fertilize.
