Name That Weed Version 2

I have lawn problem that needs resolving. I have a yard full of these “weeds” or “grasses” that have sprouted up in the last month. SOme say it’s an annual rye while others think it’s just a weed of some sort. See photos of the offending growth and a little more background on how it emerged at my blog site.
Thanks for your help.

I also have and an invasion of this weed grass in Central Florida. My lawn care company has been unsuccessful in getting rid of it yet. We are also hopeful the spring heat will kill it off. I look forward to reading the replies.

don’t know….since it is embedded with your other St. Aug, I am guessing it is impossible to just dig out?
If it is confined to a specific area perhaps irradicate and resod.

I have something similar in SW Florida. I think it is nutsedge. It has big clumpy and interconnected roots underground.
I purchased a house with mowed weeds in lieu of a lawn. On water with 3-4″ of very good topsoil on top of sand base. Strip sodded 18 months ago, but floritam could not spread past carpetgrass. Actually, floritam was loosing the battle in about 1/2 of yard. Threw out borax to kill the carpetgrass. 2-3 months later, during the “dormant” season, the floritam strip sod had spread and choked out all competition – including the nutsedge. Whether it was borax that killed nutsedge directly or whether killing carpetgrass tipped the scales enough for floritam to kill the nutsedge I do not know. All I know for sure is that a full year of Chemlawn with monthly complaint with free follow up didn’t do squat (i.e. two treatments per month). But within 60 days of borax my yard is weed free.
Try it in a test area. Another thng that might be worth an experiment is to pour boiling hot water with mild Arm&Hammer soap directly on the nutsedge clump. I like the borax because my yard is so big that I need something that I can broadcast over parge areas.
