Well, tomorrow is the big day!! Saturday!, May 8th 2010 will go down in history, as this is the largest purchase I think I’ve ever made!!! Will be laying 36 pallets of El Toro, and NO, I do not EVER want to go thru with this ever again!! Say some prayers for me that all goes well, and I will let you all know how it goes. I appreciate all the help with all my previous posts and questions. I ended up not having many choices of sod, as the delivery fees are WAY too high, and considering that I needed so much sod, I couldn’t deal with delivery fees. so, had to go with what’s available locally. Also, I did check out http://wfrec.ifas.ufl.edu/main/Programs/turf_science/research.htm , which is a research center with lots of examples of sod all planted next to eachother, and the professors all have opinions on what works and why (for this area).Plus, I visited many a local turf farm to see what they offer….I would definitely recommend that to anyone else no matter where one lives. And even do it during different months of the year.I just pray I don’t over/under water, or over/under fertilize. this grass is too pricey to be goofin’ around!!

anyone with experience with El Toro, I would SO appreciate your suggestions!!

Wow good luck!

That’s a lot of watering for the first few weeks. Hopefully we get some rain.

Water daily for at least a week. Then go tug on some sod and see if it is rooting. Water at least every other day for another week (may want to water daily for 2 weeks).

Also, put out some tin pans and test to see how much water you are really getting. Don;t just guess that 15 minutes or 30 or 60 minutes is right. Go for 3/4 inch or so for the first week.

And remember, zoysia does not need a lot of nitrogen so when you do fertilize use something like 16/4/8 or similar (high last number to help promote good roots).
