I just bought a house in Arlington,TX. The lawn needs a lot of work. It is divided into three levels. On the first level is Bermuda grass and it is in ok shape, the first level gets a lot of sun. On level 2 and 3 is St. Augustine. Half the grass on the third level is dead. The third level has a lot of shade. My question is what type of seed or sod would work best on my lawn, and when is the best time of year to plant new grass?

In the shady areas you can continue with St.Augustine…..but wait till spring to re-sod. Until then, plant all levels with a temporary winter seed – such as annual rye grass.
I almost forgot Do Not over water. Floratan /Seville all strains of St. Augustine are suseptible to fungus from over…
I am from the north and it has taken me five yrs to learn and undertand seville lawns. No 1…
