I think I planted a different type of grass in one area, what now?

Hello. I’m having a little trouble getting my lawn looking good. This is my first house and when we moved in the backyard was over half weeds. Seriously, no grass, all weeds. I sprayed with a broadleaf herbicide, which after taking effect, left the weedy half of the yard dead. So I cut it down to the dirt and planted seed. It came up, but is definitely not the same type as the rest. The grass that was already here is a thin leafed, deep green color. The stuff that I planted is a few shades lighter, with short fat leaves, and sprouts stems that want to seed after a week of not mowing. I don’t know what type I planted, it just said sun/shade mix and I don’t have the bag anymore. I’ve been looking for pictures to decipher the two and determine what they are, but have had no luck. I really like the thinner, deep green grass, and want the whole yard that way. Am I going to have to start over? Thanks for any helpAdam
