How much sand to lay and how to lay it?

ok guys I have a bermuda/fescue mix. Mostly bermuda as I seeded last year. Anyway- this weekend I am going to aerate (plug) — overseed, and sand. Actually I was told to plug, sand then seed in that order. Anyway- how much sand do I need to lay out and what is the best way to do this?

Here’s a pretty neat calculator to use to determine the amount of top dressing. It even allows for different diameter and depth of aerification tines.
