i have recently installed st augustine in my back yard ,and am watering 3 times a day about 5 to 10 min’s alomost every day for the past week and it looks like some areas are growing while some are yellow and thin the dealer who sold me the grass told not to fertilize because the sod had fert in it,there is one area thet is under my daughters play house thet gets almost no sun and is doin great!!!!!!!while the areas that get almost full sun are looking yellow and patchy.does this mean the areas of full sun are not getting enough water?under my kids trampoline the grass is doing fine also, i need to know wht type of fertilizer to use with what ingredients one other thing the soil in my yard iss a orangish redish looks like sandy red dirt the dealer told me that dirt was ok..please help..mortage kids and bills mean no money for a pro so i’m in it up to my knees

Could be a lot things going on there, but with all the watering, and shaded areas doing better than open areas; it does sound as if you might be scalding your new sod by watering in direct sunlight or at temperatures midday that do more harm than good.

You may want to check “poor performing” spots in your yard for sod contact with the soil. For roots to grow into the underlying soil you need almost 100% contact. You can rent a roller to do the job or if areas are small enough just want on them.
