I recently moved into a house with Emerald Zoysia. My last yard was St. A….so I’m having to adjust. Question: How thick can thatch be without causing problems. With the St. A I dethatched every Spring. I know that is not necessary with Zoysia….but I may have over fertilized which I’ve read will cause buildup.

it’s just the opposite- you’re not supposed to dethatch st. aug.- causes a problem with the resistance to s.a.d.- you need to dethatch zoysia as a regular maintenance practice.
