Dog Peeing in same spot

I’ve trained my dog to pee in the same area, so as you can amagine it looks like the lunar landscape. Am I asking to much to want the grass to grow back? I water it twice a day, should I reseed it also??

In my opinion youre asking too much. Getting the dog to damage only a portion of the yard is outstanding. Try mulch, stone, etc. If you insist on grass, see if your Vet can recommend something for the dog to make his urine less potent. Then you can replant.

did you teach your dog to poop in the same spot too? I used to have a dog that wouldnt go out into the backyard to do number one or two. He prefered to do them on neighbor’s yard whenever I walk him around the block. He was a wierd dog.

I’ve trained my dog to do the same thing. But I trained him to pee in a pinestraw bed.
You might try providing a better target and re-training the pooch, ’cause no grass is going to take repeat applications of dog pee.

I have also read that feeding your dog brewer’s yeast will help, but I do not know how much or how often.

This is totally for fun……….
The way I see it the main problem with the urine is in the amount that is going down at any one time. The high concentration of urine, of which UREA was once made, is too much for the plant to bear and it dies because of too much “fertilizer”. I have come up with a cure. If anyone is intrested I may patent the idea.
Now comes the best part: Someone should invent a deflecter. The attachment goes onto to your dogs winkie. It would work by forcing the urine to spray, or at least scatter the pee over a larger area. Thereby lessening the urine load on the small spots and making a larger portion of your lawn handle the load of urine. Hey, your dog would be an organic fertilizer factory.
Maybe force feeding him cornmeal could take care of the disease and insects too!

It does sound like fun. Trying to get the device on your dog’s winkie, could be very entertaining for friends and neighbors. Also, I hear that it’s usually the female that causes the issues because they squat which causes the urine to be applied to a very precise area. So, while you got one for a winkie, you might want to start working on a model for woowoos as well.
