confused in bayou country

Anyone with some help would be a blessing! Last summer I moved into a recently built home with NO grass planted. Went on a two week vacation only to return home to some grass?, weeds, etc. I am planning to start a “real lawn” this spring and do not know where to start. Here in south Louisiana our climate would be considered “tropical” with mild, short winters. I really like the look of Bermuda grass and would like any opinions on types to try and steps to prep my yard for the project. I am so glad I found this site as I was thinking of ordering the infamous “amazoy”! Any response would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for a super link for the technical comparisons of the different Zoysia varieties. For anyone interested it lists the varieties and their best locations for planting, the best seasons, and ph soil levels for best results. Really a great handbook, especially for those in the South.
