Blue Grass Weed

My St. Augustine Lawn has developed a very fine grass like weed that is “blue”. Applications of the usual Scott’s Weed & Feed do nothing. This week is gradually taking over my lawn. What is it and how do I control it?

First of all, did you put the weed and feed down before the weeds came out of dormant? Also, I don’t know alot about St. Augustine grass, but if the weed you are talking about is a grassy weed you can spray some MSMA. Check the label first to make sure it’s safe for that type of grass.

MSMA is pretty harsh on St. Augustinegrass. The first application should be okay, but the second will probably annihilate the turf.
