Blackjack Bermuda

I’ve read in a couple places in this topic that bermuda and shade don’t mix, I have one last question on the subject.
In a few weeks I’ll be putting in a yard in a newly constructed home in the Fort Worth TX area, ON a wooded acre. Being originally from the north, St Augustine reminds me of crab grass, so I prefer the looks of Bermuda.
I had a landscaper tell me last week that Blackjack Bermuda is more shade tolerant than normal Bermuda. He thinks Blackjack will do fine on my lot. I cannot find any data for the sun-shade requirements of Blackjack Bermuda.
Does anyone have an comments?ThanksDon

I found this on blackjack:
For unsurpassed dark green color in a seeded Bermudagrass, plant Blackjack. This vigorous, fine bladed cultivar adds color and density to any warm-season blend throughout the hottest summer months. In addition, Blackjack shows remarkable cold tolerance even in colder winter areas. Provides a dense green lawn all summer long:
* Deep green color * Carpet like density * Good Cold Tolerance * Super-fine texture * Superior seedling vigor * Good drought & traffic tolerance.

I too just had 1/2 an acre of blackjack hydromulched on my yard in Lubbock, TX. Coming up great, but am curious as to a good link or info on this variety. Don, like most of Lubbock there is little to no shade so I can’t help you there.

I don’t know where grassguy is gathering his data but here is some NTEP (National Turf Evaluation Program) data comparing Blackjack to other seeded bermudagrass pedigrees. If you like fine bladed grass in the shade consider zoysia in your shade zone. Zoysia should work for you in the shaded areas also I would also trim the lower branches of your trees to let in more filterd sunlight.
