Does anyone know the best herbicide to use to kill bermuda grass in fescue? I have Falcon 2 and the bermuda is starting to choke it out. I’ve seen where you use Fusilade 2 on the zoysia grass will ti kill it in my fescue without killing it?

There are apparently 2 herbicides for this situation. Acclaim and Fusillade.

I live in Atlanta and have been encouraged to use Acclaim during the warmer months – June, July, August. I can tell you that it browns the bermuda and causes injury to the bermuda. Slight injury to the fescue.

Fusillade is not recommended for the warmer months (too much fescue damage), and is supposed to offer even bermuda control than Acclaim. I have some fusillade, and plan to use it beginning in September, and again in the spring.

The studies I’ve seen show that a program with multipile timely applications of either herbicide will greatly reduce the amount of bermuda in a fescue lawn. However, it may never completely eliminate the bermuda.
